Warm on the Inside, Chic on the Outside

If walking outside on that brisk winter day is not difficult enough, finding an outfit that’s suitable for the occasion is even harder. Winter is the true testament of a fashionista’s ability to look good, no matter the weather. Sporting the perfect jacket or having the right pair of boots that look stylish but not too bulky can be a lot harder than one might think. To mitigate the risk of being cold or not looking up to snuff, here some tips:

Shearling, coats and parkas galore!
A head-turning jacket is a necessity in any wardrobe. Dressing up the simplest outfits with a statement coat is one of the easiest ways to get that killer outfit. A shearling coat, or simply any coat with a soft, warm interior makes it easy to keep wearing the summer tops you refuse to put away for the season. According to Hanna Strub of Corbo Studios, “Having a beautifully tailored coat is an important investment for any fashionista.” Having a jacket that’s the right length can transform your workout wear into classy outfit. Throw on a scarf or some gloves for a pop of colour, and suddenly, your outfit’s a 10. Outwear is everything, since it’s all you see when walking outside.

Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize!
Whether it’s a big scarf wrapped around your neck, or a great bag to finish off your outfit, accessories should never take a back seat, especially in the winter. A statement bag atop a simple outfit is the easiest way to take a neutral look to the next level. To keep warm, throw on a beanie or a chunky scarf for optimal defect against the cold, winter breeze. Strub also noted, “Adding a pop of color through your accessories is extremely important when dressing for winter. It makes every outfit yummy and wonderful”.

Throw those chunky boots to the back of your closet!
Statement boots can always elevate an all-black outfit. Erin Zacks from Holt Renfrew said, “the Alexander Wang Anouck boots are my favorite: they are so easy to wear with everything especially with the subtle detail on the heel”. Another big trend this season is velvet! Throw on a pair of velvet booties with any outfit and it instantly elevates any outfit! Alexandra Toccin from Stylists to a T says “velvet is a big trend this season and I couldn’t be happier about it”. Chic simple boots with texture will always elevate any outfit because the streets are your runway and you must work it!

Everything under!
As important as the outer pieces are, you want to be prepared to look good when you step inside and all those layers come off. A knit dress is key for winter. For those warmer days throw on a lighter knit dress or cozy up with a heavier knit to keep you nice and warm. Joggers are another big trend this season, it’s those sweatpants everyone loves and never wants to take off. Hanna Strub said, “Putting on a pair of joggers with a pair of Filippa K boots and a statement Malene Birger jacket is my favorite outfit for winter”. How could you go wrong with an outfit like that?!

Another winter necessity are cashmere sweaters; they are perfect when layering for any occasion. Kat Law from TNT said, “my go to look is throwing on an oversized Acne sweater layered over a long R13 t shirt with booties”. These must have items will keep you snug as a bug all season long.

Hope these tips will help you get through this traitorous winter while looking fabulous. Good luck!
