Top 5 Mexican beaches to bring you Bae

Top 5 Mexican beaches to bring you Bae
Vacations are around the corner, so you better start thinking about all the possibilities out there. In this article, I would like to bring up my top 5 beautiful Mexican beaches. As a Mexican, I have had the joy of visiting most of the beaches in my country and these are my top 5 if you are visiting from Toronto. You will certainly appreciate the currency change you will get in for your dollars and it only takes a 4.5hr flight to get there. This will give you the possibility of doing a lot with less money, so I’m sure your bae will love the idea of a romantic – affordable – fun and super warm getaway!
1.     Tulum
Ideal beach for romantic bohos
Tulum is without a doubt, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Americas (mentioned also in New York Times in their top ten vacation destinations): white sand, Caribbean blue sea and some Mayan ruins with amazing sea views.
There is also amazing cave and cavern diving, fun cenotes and a variety of lodgings and restaurants to fit every budget. From rustic Cabañas to all-inclusive hotels to boutique hotels, you can find pretty much any style to fit your’s and your bae’s likes. To get to Cancun from Toronto, book a flight to Cancun and drive south on road 307 (about 130km).

2.     Playa del Carmen
Ideal beach for romantics and nature lovers
Most fashionable beach in Mexico makes it a must stop for fun and shopping. Playa del Carmen has a very long and not very deep sea making it one of the most walkable beaches. Nearby are the fortress cities of Tulum and Coba, where the ancient Mayan civilization built its majestic temples. One of the best resorts in the area is Viva Wyndham Maya which is a 4 star hotel with amazing rooms, pools and restaurants, while for a good value you can find places such as the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa. For those of you who love nature, there are amazing hotels such as the Barcelo Maya Beach, (about 25Kms further south), which is surrounded by a natural park of 500,000 square meters and overlooks one of the most beautiful white sand beaches of the Riviera Maya.

3.     Puerto Morelos
Ideal beach for foodies and nature lovers
Small fishing village and popular seaside town between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Its sandy beach is a real paradise. The sea is clean and the water is warm, but the plus is given by the beautiful coral reef just 500 meters from the coast making it perfect for snorkeling and diving, one of the most romantic adventures to do with your bae!

4.     Puerto Escondido
Ideal beach for adventurous and romantics
Surfers come here from all over the world to experience the “Mexican pipeline”, a tubular wave that exceeds 6 meters high and breaks at 3 kilometers from the famous beach Zicatela, home to many prestigious championships. The water in this beach is quite turbulent, so for a more peaceful bath, better go to Playa Carrizalillo or Playa Marinero, in the center of Puerto Escondido.
Puerto Escondido is perfect if you and your bae are looking for a relaxing vacation while spending little money. While a room in a high/quality hotel in Cancun can cost upward of $400USD a night, best hotels in Puerto top out at about $150USD a night.
So in short, great food, low prices and super surf, what’s not to love?

5.     Isla Mujeres
Ideal beach for nature lovers and romantics
First Spaniards arriving to this small island just 8 km long were the first to name it "Isla de las Mujeres" because of the female statues that are next to the temple dedicated to the goddess of fertility Ixchel. The sea is very rich of animals and the best beaches are on the south coast: Playa Paraíso and Playa Lancheros where the Mundaca fortress is located. For divers, excursions are organized to the shark caves and the Manchones reef.
Hotel prices vary from cheap to very expensive so the best way is to find an
amazing vacation package which can include many of the activities the island has to offer like snorkeling, dolphin search, scuba diving and fishing. Isla Mujeres is home to a big population of sea turtles, because of recent endangerment of sea turtles in the area, a facility, (open to the public), was recently set up on the southern end of the island for rehabilitation and breeding.
What are you waiting for? Book your trip ASAP! The best way of traveling to these amazing beaches is finding a package deal (flight, hotel, transportation and activities). All five of this beaches are reachable by flying to Cancun, which is a short 4-5 hr flight from Toronto. For more information on flights go to www.tripadvisor.ca and www.aeromexico.com. Or look for full vacation packages on www.expedia.com and www.tripadvisor.com.
