FIVE ALIVE

With winter in full force Oh, George brings you
five hot looks to keep you looking sizzling this season!

XXL Details

When it comes to accessorizing the hottest winter looks, large and ladylike is the way to go. Features to focus on are zipper pulls, layered multi-length chain necklaces, and even graphic cartoon inspirations from design duo Viktor & Rolf. These looks are easy to incorporate into classic outfits to make them look au-courant, weather splurging on runway style from Givenchy or simply tossing on some mismatched necklaces of your own, the effect is sure to make a splash. For holiday or evening parties try using statement necklaces from last season and combining with simple long strands. Worn with a solid shift dress or tuxedo style pantsuit, this look is sure to dazzle

Chunky Knits

Ah, ‘tis the season, and nothing can beat the cold like a mug of coffee with Bailey’s and a chunky knit sweater. Yes, the oversized cable knit is again making a comeback for this season in several colours, textures, and designs. Leave it to Donna Karan to bring back the latest twist on this trend with tri-coloured cashmere, knitted cowl-neck sweaters. Pump up the volume on your look with a pair of contrasting opaque leggings. Hot combinations include charcoal knits with tangerine accents, or plum worn with rust. If tights aren’t exactly your cup of Spanish coffee, pair up your knits with black skinny jean and riding boots or push up long sleeves to reveal a contrasting coloured henley.

Lovely Lace

If you have yet to invest in feminine pieces, now is the time! Pretty pieces are back, with the spotlight on luxurious lace. Be it pointelle-style tights, floral prints, or simply sheer bodices, there is a variation for every figure. Daring dames should try mixing this look with a menswear style high waist pant, sheer top and a sexy black balconette bra (or simple solid camisole). For winter this concept is not necessarily the most realistic, so save it for indoor events, not freezing in sub-zero weather while waiting in line on Richmond Street.

Tartan Cocoon Coat

Lucky for ladies in touch with their inner lumberjack, preppy plaid is here to stay for the cool months, with a purpose. A new take on the classic cocoon coat will create a sharp look as seen on the New York runways. Designers such as Charlotte Ronson, Narciso Rodriguez and Marc Jacobs have adopted this style paired with stacked patent booties for a long legged look. A fresh take on this timeless tartan is très chic!

Bold Colours

Eye-catching colours are the make it or break it factor in seasonal trends, and this season it is all about the bold and the beautiful. It is a given that the classic charcoal and black will be a feature for the cold months, however these neutrals are a perfect backdrop to this winter’s hot hues. For a shocking look opt for a warm canary yellow, toned down red and gorgeous rusty orange. If you are in search of a more subdued look, gravitate towards cool tones including deep plum, cobalt blue, and icy greys with a tinge of colour. These deeper colours can almost be treated like a neutral so don’t be timid about playing with pretty prints! For haute-couture inspiration, take notes from Dior, Vivienne Westwood and Louis Vuitton.
