Athletic Sneakers in Fashion

As fashion silhouettes tend to get much looser, simpler, and comfortable, so do their shoes. If you think about previous fashionable shoe trends such as: wedges, heels, wingtips, they all tend to be a much harder shoe to wear with just “any outfit” and can quite sometimes be very uncomfortable; but hey “fashion=pain”. Whether it’s getting terrible blisters on the back of your heels after a long day, trying to break in full leather shoes that will eventually tear up your feet, or even just standing on an uneven platform all day, these all lead to one thing; pain. If you think about taking those brutal wingtips off after a long day of walking, you will either turn to walking barefoot, or hop into something much more practical and comfortable. Bring in the Athletic sneaker. Athletic sneakers were technically meant for exercising such as: working out, yoga, and running, but would have never been seen on the runway, on fashion designers themselves, and even on just your average person trying to keep up with the latest fashion trends. This new era of the fashion industry is one of the “Free-for-All” eras where boundaries are pushed, and everything is acceptable. The main use of athletic sneakers, and even the old gym class tube socks, have made many appearances in the fashion world many times without-a- doubt. Some notable fashion acts such as: Raf Simons, Stella McCartney, Rick Owens, and Consuelo Castiglioni have all sent their models down the runway wearing sneakers, without any hesitation. Comfort, functionality, and style are all the main components when wearing athletic sneakers with a fashionable outfit. If you can’t bunch up the courage to buy a pair of $1000+ designer sneakers, then industry powerhouses such as: Nike, Adidas, New Balance, and Vans have you covered. Sneaker models such as: the Nike Free 5.0, Adidas Stan Stan Smith, Superstars, and Yeezy Boost 350’s, New Balance’s 993, and Vans’ Old Skool’s are amongst some of the most popular trending athletic sneakers in the fashion industry right now. Celebrities such as: Kanye West, Phoebe Philo, Kim Kardashian, Craig Green, and Chiara Ferragini are all fashion icons that people tend to look up to, and are the trend setters for the present, and future.

With that being said; whether it’s a casual or formal event, fashion shows that anything, and everything is acceptable, and yes that includes wearing the same sneakers from the gym to a social event without thinking twice. Comfort is the new trend when it comes to being fashion forward, and is probably one of the best trends to ever happen.
