Despite how nervous and awkward Lizzie was she was extremely fashionable and deserved kudos for her wardrobe choices. Let's also not forget how she faced the struggle of buying the first bra, being labelled as an outfit repeater or simply understanding us on how it was like leaving the teenage years. Her outfits were fun, playful, colourful and no matter what she wore she always looked ready for the runway. Luckily Y2K is highly on trend and even though looking as perf as Lizzie is not an easy task for us; the common people, here are some key pieces of her wardrobe that can get us there… or at least attempt to.
Chunky sandals
Who is Lizzie McGuire without her chunky orange sandals? We saw her cartoon wearing them all throughout the series and we can even find even the exact same ones in ASOS. We know chunky sandals can be hard to walk on and can be such ankle twisters but safer platform categories, like boots, heels, and sneakers are also trending right now. If you dare to use colorful colors and animal print like Lizzie would, tons of these are available at the market.
Butterfly Clips, Feathers and Flower Stick-Ons
Not just Lizzie's clothes picks, but also her hair accessories, shout the 2000s. Lizzie set up her hair in fun clips, clip-on colours, braids, feathers, and buns, and going for straight hair or just a ponytail was too basic for her.
As cool as Lizzie's outfit was, her hairstyles were a main part of her whole look. If you are a fan you are aware how obsessed she was with bandanas, and even though we would think Lizzie Mcguire set this movement that Bella and Gigi Hadid have been pulling up, the truth is bandanas have been showing and leaving for years.
Crimped, Curled And Straight Hair
Besides the accessories she used in her hair, she would show up each day of school wearing different hairstyles, we could only wonder how she managed doing homework or even getting some sleep but you know what they say… fashion demands sacrifices. One day she would have straight hair, the other day wavy, or curly or she would wear her most iconic one the crimped hair.
Contrasting Patterns
Although Lizzie and Miranda were outcast they were
daring and playful when it comes to fashion, that’s where they felt creative
and confident. Lizzie loved to mix and match different patterns, and when it
comes to pants she would always wear printed ones. We hardly saw her wear plain
ones even in jeans they would have some studs or a printed design. She wore a
lot of flower, cheetah and zebra print pants too.
Being an outfit repeater
Even though celebrities have teached us that wearing an outfit twice is basically a crime, we would never forget Lizzie being shamed for wearing an old dress for her graduation and dishing Kate back on how it is actually more pathetic to be an outfit rememberer than an outfit repeater. Points for Lizzie and for celebrities like Kate Midleton that repeat outfits and could care less, if you love something why not wear it the times you want?
