How the FENTY brand has disrupted the beauty and fashion industry by being fearless and inclusive.
Work, work, work is really all Rihanna seems to be doing. The mogul continues to make headlines for success in both the beauty and fashion world, as FENTY is one of the biggest brands out there breaking stereotypes and stigmas. Rihanna first debuted her FENTY brand in 2016, with her collection with Puma which almost instantly sold out and featured staple pieces that blew up everywhere. Since then, the mogul has had nothing short of success with each unveiling of her new ventures. As mentioned in their mission statements, FENTY Beauty, Savage X FENTY, and FENTY Fashion House have all been created to include and celebrate the variety of body types, skin tones, and personalities in this world.
FENTY Beauty and FENTY Fashion House (LVMH)
In September 2017, FENTY Beauty was released and make up consumers went crazy for the variety of products and shades available. FENTY beauty, from the start, set out to accomplish things other make up brands had not, including a variety of 40 shades for their Pro Filt’r Foundation. From the diversity of the models used, the variety of shades and products offered, and the fact that the brand was cruelty free, FENTY shot to the top of the beauty charts selling out fast. Since the release two years ago, shade ranges and products have expanded (10 new shades of Pro Filt’r Foundation and products such as brow pencils and body makeup have been introduced). The FENTY Beauty brand continues to re-invent make up standards and provide innovative and great quality products at a reasonable price point.
Earlier this year, Rihanna’s FENTY fashion and beauty brand made headlines as it was inducted into the LVMH (Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton) sustainable fashion house. This accomplishment made ‘HER-story’ as Rihanna is the first woman to create an original brand and first women of colour to head an LVMH backed fashion house. Rihanna’s vision for FENTY Fashion House is to have all women find confidence in this fashion brand, whether that be on a day where you want to stand out or be more submissive, there is something for every woman. “Women are forces of this earth. We are multifaceted, complex, vulnerable yet bulletproof, and FENTY speaks to all of our intricacies.” — Robyn Rihanna Fenty
Savage X FENTY
From having various sizes unlike any other lingerie brand at reasonable prices, Savage X FENTY has single handily blown any other lingerie brand out of the competition…especially Victoria Secret. After Savage X FENTY’s highly anticipated release last year, there has been multiple launches of new collections that are always selling out and are offered at a wide size range. Similar to Victoria Secret, but way more socially advanced, Savage X FENTY debuted their runway show last year and it featured models of various body types, ages, ethnicity, sexualities, and even a model who was pregnant. This year proved no different with an even bigger production, including all the inclusive themes and models types like the past year. The Savage X FENTY show was filmed and broadcasted on Amazon Prime Video and got outstanding reviews, with most saying Victoria Secret can say goodbye to the lingerie limelight. With all these positive efforts and aspects of Savage X FENTY’s branding, Rihanna continuously proves how this brand was created to change the standards and stigmas of typical lingerie brands.
